Strategic Investment Boosts Clubs and Athletes Nationwide, with Nearly £750,000 Delivered
Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) is proud to announce that nearly three quarters of a million has already been invested into the sport, thanks to the transformative £1.7 million donation from the Mark Benevolent Fund, announced in 2024.
As of the 31st March 2026, £739,813 has been distributed through the funding, directly supporting clubs and athletes across the country. This investment is already improving access, strengthening club infrastructure and raising the visibility of wheelchair rugby across the UK.
Funding Now Open All Year Round
GBWR is pleased to confirm that funding remains open year round, and clubs are encouraged to apply for further support. This next phase will build on the strong momentum already created, ensuring the benefits of the Mark Benevolent Fund’s donation continue to be felt across the entire wheelchair rugby community.

Key Investments to Date Include: 
- Four new vans and five trailers to support club logistics and outreach
- 77 new adult rugby wheelchairs to expand participation
- Team kit to promote unity and identity among clubs
- Shot clocks and scoreboards to enhance the competitive environment
- Chair maintenance and new wheels to ensure safety and performance
- Shelving to improve equipment storage and organisation
- Filming and photography equipment to capture and promote the sport
