Other Ways to Give

Besides donating, there are a number of other ways you could choose to support GBWR.

  • Leave a Gift in Your Will

Making a gift in your Will is an incredibly generous way to support GBWR. After providing for loved ones, we would like to ask you to consider leaving the charity a gift in your Will, whether that is a percentage of your Estate, a lump sum, shares or a valuable item, your support will leave a lasting legacy for wheelchair rugby.

How to leave a gift in your Will

    1. When you decide to make a Will, we recommend that you seek professional advice from a solicitor. The knowledge that your Will is accurate will give yourself and your loved ones peace of mind.
    2. Choose the type of gift you want to leave. There are a few ways that you can leave a gift in your will. If you have yet to make a Will then it can be included easily. If you already have a Will, you can amend it with a Codicil. This document allows you to make changes or additions to an existing Will without having to pay for your Will to be re-written. If you need to make a more significant change to your Will we recommend you speak to your solicitor and consider having your Will redrafted.

Your solicitor will let you know about the options available to you.

    Making a residual gift

You may choose to leave us money by making a residual gift. This means we receive all or part of the residue of your Estate once everything else has been taken care of. This includes any debts that must be paid and any specific or pecuniary legacies that you have left to friends or family.
If you decide to leave a residual gift then you may want to give this wording to your solicitor:

I give all [or a …% share] of the residue of my Estate to Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby, Rugby House, Twickenham Stadium, 200 Whitton Road, Twickenham, Middlesex, TW2 7BA, Registered Charity No. 1130038, to be used for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of the treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.

Making a pecuniary or specific bequest

If you decide to leave us a specific sum of money or a specific item of value, then you will need to inform your solicitor that you wish to make a pecuniary bequest. If you decide to leave a specific gift, you may want to give this wording to your solicitor:

I give free of tax to Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby, Rugby House, Twickenham Stadium, 200 Whitton Road, Twickenham, Middlesex, TW2 7BA, Registered Charity No. 1130038 the sum of £…[words and figures] for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of the treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.

If you have any questions regarding how to include us in your Will please email info@gbwr.org.uk.

  • Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is a tax efficient way for employees to donate to their chosen charities. It’s a simple way of donating through an individuals salary, before tax is deducted, which gives a tax break on the donations. It is also a fantastic way to provide charities with a regular income.

  • Gifts in Celebration

Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, a wedding or a special anniversary, asking your friends and family to give a donation to GBWR in lieu of gifts, can make your day feel even more special.
