Learning
To help support volunteers in our clubs, the ‘Learning’ section provides details for how to upskill and develop people in coaching, officiating, safeguarding and various other volunteer roles within the club. GBWR has produced a series of videos explaining the basics of chair mechanics and maintenance.
As well as these helpful videos you can also find information on GBWR courses, which offer an extensive package of development, from face-to-face workshops and courses, to online webinars.
When it comes to development and learning, there are also many external offers, details of which can all be found here:

Sport England Club Matters
Sport England Club Matters Workshops are short training sessions, funded by Sport England and delivered across the country by Club Matters facilitators in a range of specific topics. The sessions will develop your skills, improve your knowledge and ultimately help you develop your club. They are for groups of at least four clubs and build upon the content of the online resources, but also include case studies, topical issues, exercises and a discussion section.
The workshops typically last approximately two hours and like all Club Matters support, workshops are open to anyone involved with a community sports club. The topics covered will mostly be relevant to those who have responsibility for, or involvement in running their club, either now or in the future. We encourage more than one person from a club to attend so that knowledge and business skills can be shared within their club.
The workshops currently being run by Sport England Club Matters are listed below along with a short workshop description and their learning outcomes.
By following the links you can find details of when the next open workshop is taking place, and there is the option to register your interest in a workshop if there is not one currently organised.
GBWR’s Regional Development Officers will from time-to-time be organising ‘closed’ online workshops. These will be the same workshops detailed below but will enable us to include more personalised content – look out for more information from your local RDO once they have been organised.
