Sponsorship Opportunities

We are able to offer the most unusual opportunities to partners who wish to be associated with the triumph of the human spirit….

Welcome to the world of wheelchair rugby, a world of speed, power, aggression, determination, intensity and sheer enjoyment!

The Opportunity

Wheelchair rugby is about inspirational people, it’s about teamwork and trust, community, social responsibility and the extraordinary human capacity to embrace challenge and seek the positive.

In the lead up to the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, wheelchair rugby featured in the acclaimed Channel 4 film ‘Inside Incredible Athletes’ which was nominated for the 2011 Broadcast Award. In 2012 the game and many of its athletes featured in a multitude of media releases including C4 coverage of London 2012 which won BAFTA awards. Using industry standard measurements, wheelchair rugby achieved in excess of £2m equivalent advertising value during the games itself including front page coverage in most of the national newspapers. Individual athletes have also been recognised, Mandip Sehmi won the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award at the British Asian Sports Awards, and featured in a 2012 photographic exhibition in the National Portrait Gallery. The game itself has been animated and a computer game version has been created.  Since London 2012 interest in the sport has ballooned and there has been a 31% increase in athletes with three new clubs formed. This growth is continuing as we create opportunities for other disability groups. We have recently partnered with the charity Help For Heroes and are delivering rugby at the military rehabilitation centres across the country and have Mike Brown, the Harlequins and England rugby star as our Ambassador for the programme. In addition we have partnered with a growing number of Premiership rugby clubs and are delivering community programmes alongside them. These include Gloucester, Harlequins, Saracens and Leicester.

GBWR is currently offering a number of partnering opportunities for individuals and companies who demonstrate an empathy with our belief in the value of each individual and the power we all have to achieve the unthinkable.
