Brazil Beckons: GB Set for 2026 WWR World Championships
The countdown is on.
This August, Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby will head to São Paulo, Brazil, for the 2026 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships, where the world’s best teams will go head-to-head in pursuit of the sport’s biggest prize. The Championship runs from 15-24 August, with competition beginning on 17 August and medal matches taking place on 23 August.
For GB, it is another opportunity to test themselves against the very best on the international stage and continue building momentum against the world’s leading wheelchair rugby nations.
Group Stage Draw
Great Britain have been drawn alongside Denmark, Colombia, Germany, Japan and France in what promises to be a competitive group stage.
Great Britain Fixtures (UK Time)
Tuesday 18 August
- Denmark v Great Britain – 13:00 BST
- Great Britain v Colombia – 21:30 BST
Wednesday 19 August
- Germany v Great Britain – 13:30 BST
- Great Britain v Japan – 21:00 BST
Thursday 20 August
- France v Great Britain – 23:00 BST
All times shown are British Summer Time (BST). Fixtures are based on the official tournament schedule.
Following the group stage, the top four teams from each pool will progress to the quarter-finals on 21 August. Semi-finals take place on 22 August before the World Championship medals are decided on Finals Day, Sunday 23 August. Teams not progressing to the quarter-finals will compete in classification matches.
