Justin Frishberg has announced that he is standing down as assistant coach to GB Wheelchair Rugby with immediate effect. Justin has held the position since 2013, and together with Head Coach Paul Shaw is credited with building the new and exciting squad that won the European Championships in 2015 and did well in Rio. Justin’s technical and tactical astuteness has been evident throughout the period and those new to the squad have benefitted significantly from his experience and wisdom. Head Coach Paul Shaw said,
‘Justin has been a fantastic partner over the last few years and I have enjoyed working with him. His knowledge of the game is second to none and the squad and staff have learnt a great deal from him’.
Chief Executive David Pond commented, ‘For many years Justin has been at the centre of GBWR, as an athlete, club and board chairman, and for the last cycle as assistant coach to the GB squad. His influence in all of these roles has been important for the development of the game in GB, but perhaps his legacy in helping to develop a new GB squad will be the most valuable. I thank him on behalf of all of us in GB’.
Justin intends to continue playing as part of the London club where he will still be able to support those learning the game.
