Chief Exec’s World Championship Diary: Mental Resilience

GB warm up ahead of game v USA Greg Popovich, coach of the USA basketball team, the San Antonio Spurs was quoted on social media today as saying, ‘The measure of who we are is how we react to something that doesn’t go our way’. I read this as I was considering our performance against the USA. If you have not picked that up yet then I must record that we lost 47-41. The score in no way reflects the closeness of the game. Having lost the tip off we...

Chief Exec’s World Championship Diary: Out of the Blocks

It was a great opening ceremony to the tournament but what struck me most was the commitment shown by some prominent Australian leaders. Present and speaking were the Governor General of Australia, His Excellency General Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Ret’d) and the Governor of New South Wales, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret'd), and Senator Bridget McKenzie the Minister of Sport. First Silverware for Yorkshire Lions

So the names of West Coast Crash and Yorkshire Lions are added to the trophies after this season’s Roma Sport National Championships. Sweet victories for both teams as Lions collect their first silverware since joining the Super Series and Crash go one better than their Super Series runner-up position. In last week’s blog I said it was the most open tournament I can remember and that certainly came true. I saw coach Alan Ash at Lilleshall earlier this week and he was rightly a proud coach! I...
