Nationals Weekend

It has been another good Nationals weekend in Sheffield. The AGM was lively and a bit long but I thought there was some interesting questions and debate and I hope that Members are now more clear about the plans we have put forward to UK Sport and Sport England in support of our funding bids. I also found it good to catch up with people around the tournament and to get views on a whole range of issues – really valuable and helpful feedback , with the vast majority of it constructive and positive about the direction of travel. I was disappointed by some of the negative comment – not the fact that we got some – I would find it odd if we did not and it is important that we create an organ...

Just before I fly..

The end of a very long week here in Vancouver and we fly back this evening. It has been a really interesting tournament in so many ways but perhaps the most significant thing to take away from it is that pretty much any of the top 6 teams are in the reckoning for London. The USA must still be the favourites as they came here without two of their top players and after some shaky games still managed to take the Gold from Canada in the final 56-53. From Vancouver..

I am not very good at adjusting my body clock after a long flight and I usually only start to feel good again when its time to catch the flight home! I am here of course for two things. The first is the IWRF General Assembly which starts 0900 in the morning and which lasts for two days. I did alert you to the resolutions being discussed and I have had one response on the Stickum proposal from Pirates so thank you to them. After the Assembly the Canada Cup starts and this w...

Well Done Dave and Good Luck Richard!

There is lots going on at the moment with the third of the Super Series events on Saturday in Sheffield followed by the Nationals and the AGM in a few weeks time and of course the all important preparations for London 2012. On top of that many of you have been helping us with putting together our funding submissions to Sport England by giving us your views in our telephone canvassing initiative. This has provided us with really valuable ideas of where you want to see the sport go. We have used this information and have now presented our initial plans for the next 4 years to both Sport England and UK Sport and we wait for the next stage of a process which will end with us presenting in ‘...
