CEO Blog: Powering Towards 2018

It really feels as if we have upped our pace over the last few weeks and are now powering towards 2018 with a host of activities between now and the end of year. My last blog was a few days before our fundraising weekend at Sevenoaks rugby club. I am sure you will have seen the press release on the website which was picked up in this month’s edition of ‘Touchline’ the monthly magazine of the RFU. It was just such a fun event, especially the Sunday which saw all the various youth a...

Appointment of Compliance & Membership Officer

When I wrote to you last week I outlined some of the issues we have experienced in our head office and apologised for the impact that is having on the NGB. You will understand that I am very prudent with the number of people I employ to manage the business of the NGB. There is, however, a balance to be had with keeping our costs, and thus number of employees to a minimum, whilst having enough people with the right skills to do the jobs necessary to ensure we meet our obligations as a Limited Com...

CEO Blog: Reputation is Everything

Thank you so much! Mollie Smith has been raising money for most of the year and her...

CEO Blog: Invictus Pride

The UK Invictus team depart today for Toronto, this year’s host for the third Invictus games. This incredible event goes from strength to strength and this year sees Romania and the Ukraine join the other 14 nations for the first time. We can take pride in our connection with Invictus: we led on creating a wheelchair rugby version for the inaugural London games in 2014 and our staff and colleagues such as Martyn Salt and Roma Sports have supported all three games. The UK wheelchair rugby te...

CEO Blog: Autumn and the Super Series Is Here

In my house you know when summer has ended because my daughter starts asking when ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is going to be on again! This year I understand that Johnny Peacock is to be one of the contestants and so it got me wondering if I should nominate Mike Spence MBE who in his new dance chair is a bit of an Anton Du Beke! Autumn also signals the end of Sunday morning surfing with my eight-year-old son but still no lie in as mini rugby starts this week at Saltash Rugby Club. He register...
