Chief Exec’s World Championship Diary: Raring to Go

Good morning from the spring sunshine of Sydney! My plan is to try and keep you up to date with things down under by way of a daily blog starting today. I arrived on Thursday evening by which time the squad had been here for over a week. I was keen to get them out here early to give them time to get over the journey and to settle into camp. I’m pleased we achieved this as having met up with everyone yesterday it was great to see how relaxed they all are and how they are enjoying each other’s company.

There is a good team ‘feel’ in the camp and that will be important as the pressure grows this week. Having settled in, the squad have had daily training sessions which finished yesterday with a practice game against our friends from Denmark – the sense now is that we just want to get on with it!

The event is being held in the Netball arenas of the Olympic Park and these were still being prepared last night so will send you images later. It’s well marketed and covered here and as you can see, Jim features in some of the promotions.

So we are all raring to go. The opening ceremony is at 12:30pm today and our first game is the last match of the day at 7.30pm. Will update you on that later. For those who are keen to watch live the games are live streamed on the event website: https://www.2018wrwc.com/watch
