BT World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge Tickets on Sale Thursday

This week sees 200 days to go to the start of BT WWRC15 and we are marking the day by launching our ticket sales. There are over 50,000 tickets available priced between £5 - £45. Of these 70% are at £20 and below with 90% of all children’s tickets at £10 and below. This is an event for everyone – an opportunity to visit the Olympic Park and to see the best wheelchair rugby teams in the world in action. Congratulations to GBWR Officials selected for IWRF events!

We are pleased to announce that 2 GBWR Officials have been selected to attend IWRF Zonal events this year. GBWR Head of Officiating Brian Ward has been selected to referee at the IWRF 2015 Americas Championship (combined with the Toronto 2015 ParaPan American Games) in Toronto, Canada on the 7th - 14th August. Additionally, referee Dave Woods has been selected to act as an evaluator at the IWRF 2015 European Division A Championship in Pajulahti, Finland on the 13th - 20th September....

Dorset Destroyers’ First Match

Sunday 15th March 2015 saw the Dorset Destroyers play their first ever match, after just 12 hours training. The match was an away friendly against local rivals Team Solent Sharks and Hammerheads in Southampton. The match started off with both teams matching each other for pace and goals. National Governing Body CEO Forum: The State of Play

A National Governing Body CEO Forum has been launched, to act as an independent voice to influence national and local policy making on sport in England. Chaired by Adrian Christy, Chief Executive of Badminton England, the Forum includes chief executives from 39 National Governing Bodies (NGBs), including GBWR’s Chief Executive David Pond. To promote the work of their governing bodies the Forum have released a report titled ‘The State of Play’, which highlights their impact in 2014. Saracens partnership launch

GBWR’s partnership with Aviva Premiership Rugby team Saracens was officially launched this month, with some of the current GB side taking on some of the Saracens squad in a short wheelchair rugby demo game. The partnership includes the development of a youth programme in the Hertfordshire/ North London area and we are looking forward to the establishment of our first youth wheelchair rugby club in the very near future....

Ospreys & RGC Wheelchair Rugby: First game under new names

Sunday February 1st saw Ospreys Wheelchair Rugby take on RGC Wheelchair Rugby at Llandarcy Academy of Sport, Neath, South Wales. Around 70 spectators filled the sports hall to watch and support, and there was a great atmosphere as both teams warmed up for their first game under the banners of their regional rugby clubs. Mike Spence once again captured the crowd with his commentating skills on the microphone and built up the excitement along with explaining the rules of the game, keeping the atmosphere on a high throughout the game.
