Building Bridges

This week was the 25th anniversary of the Disability Discrimination Act becoming law. Passed on 8 November 1995, the act made it unlawful to discriminate against disabled people in relation to employment, the provision of goods and services, education and transport. The act was amended in 2005 to shift the focus from bodies being required to make ‘reasonable adjustments’, to proactively promote equality of opportunity for disabled people.
