Paralympic Team Announcement

It’s been a busy week for us all. Kirsty and I have been locked in the office at Twickenham writing our funding bid for Sport England. This is such important work as we try to write a persuasive case for funding for all of the programmes we hope to be able to run over the next 4 years. The plan reflects what you have told us you want to do so a big thank you to the DMG and also to all of you who took part in the telephone survey. We have also just had our first feedback on the UK Sport Rio submission. This is the funding bid we worked on at the start of the year to achieve funding for the squad that will eventually represent GB in Rio in 2016. Initial feedback has been good but there is still much more work to do over the coming months to justify our case. Being locked in for hours tapping away at the laptop is not my favourite task though in this case it is probably the most important thing I have to do as the results of our work will dictate the future of our sport for the next 4 years and we have ambitious plans for growth. So it is good to have something to look forward to and for me that is the Super Series in Cardiff which starts tomorrow followed by the announcement of the team to represent GB at the London Paralympics on Tuesday next week. Selection for the team took place a couple of weeks ago so I am looking forward to sharing my excitement with those who have been selected. The announcement will be made at a media conference at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel in London on Tuesday night so I am sure the twitters will start immediately but I will have the team on the website straight away so keep your eyes on the site. Am off now to meet Kylie Grimes in London where we have a meeting with a potential new sponsor and then onward to Cardiff where I’ll look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow…..
