IWRF World Championship 2014 – Live Stream

All 42 games of the IWRF 2014 Wheelchair Rugby World Championship (4th - 10th August) are available for live and on demand free internet streaming here on the GBWR website. Court 1 is set up with one camera filming, without audio commentary and graphics. The communications team at the World Championships will provide live text updates and commentary on Facebook. Games played on Court 2 will receive the full broadcast treatment with multiple cameras, commentators and graphics. Commentators are Kristian Fredslund Andersen and Dave Mengyan. Mayor of Brighton Visits RugbyWheels Session

GBWR’s mass disability sports participation programme RugbyWheels has visited Brighton, in partnership with Brighton and Hove Council’s TAKEPART sports festival. The final session featured a visit from the Mayor of Brighton, representatives of the Brighton Albion community project and the City Council, and a number of new local players. The session, run by GBWR’s Regional Development Officer Paul Arnold and Performance team Mechanic Dorrien Preece, allowed the Mayor and his wife an opportunity to try wheelchair rugby for the first time! Europa Cup 2015

The IWRF have received no applications to host the 2015 Europa Cup. Clubs interested in hosting the 2015 Europa Cup please register an interest with John Timms, IWRF European Competitions Manager (john.timms@mls.gb.com), by Friday 25th August 2014. Please state the outline dates of the tournament and the venue you would seek to use. There can be flexibility on the number of teams that take part in the event (though ideally 8) and the qualification / selection of teams attending.  Guidance will be provided. Welsh Rugby Allstar Team take on the South Wales Pirates

Swansea's Llandarcy Academy of Sport was treated to a rugby spectacular when Welsh International Paul Thornburn captained an all-star team including John Devereux, Leigh Davies and Kristian Phillips to take on the South Wales Pirates in a wheelchair rugby exhibition match. With special guests including entertainer Max Boyce and International sportswoman Non Evans MBE the match marked the first time GBWR and the TREAT had worked together to profile wheelchair rugby in Wales.
