Review of the Welsh Wheelchair Rugby Open

On Saturday 6 August the first Welsh Wheelchair Rugby Open tournament took place at the LC2 on Oystermouth Rd in Swansea. The event was sponsored by Disability Sport Wales and was part of a Para Sport Festival. Four teams competed for the trophy with each team playing three games in the preliminary round. GBWR completes UK Anti-Doping Assurance Framework

Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby is delighted to announce its completion of the Assurance Framework, which national governing bodies (NGBs) must fulfil to certify to UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) that they are meeting their anti-doping responsibilities. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) published the updated 2021 UK National Anti-Doping Policy in April 2021, which all NGBs must be compliant with. On August 6 GBWR will be hosting its inaugural Welsh Wheelchair Rugby Open competition as part of the Swansea Para Sport Festival. The week-long Para Sport Festival begins with an insport Series event on Monday 1 August from 10 am – 3 pm at the Swansea Bay Sports Park (Swansea University, Sketty Lane, Swansea, SA2 8QB) with the opportunity for people to come and try wheelchair rugby and take part in taster sessions. Former GBWR CEO awarded honorary degree

Commodore David Pond, the former Chief Executive of Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) and Loughborough alumnus, has been awarded an honorary degree by the University.
