The end of a very long week here in Vancouver and we fly back this evening. It has been a really interesting tournament in so many ways but perhaps the most significant thing to take away from it is that pretty much any of the top 6 teams are in the reckoning for London. The USA must still be the favourites as they came here without two of their top players and after some shaky games still managed to take the Gold from Canada in the final 56-53. This was the same Canada that earlier beat Sweden in the last minutes by 1 point and yet we beat Sweden in our last match of the tournament by 63-47. Japan is also looking very capable and in the first round actually beat the USA and of course Australia is as strong as ever with Ryley Batt as dominant as ever. The final table was: 1. USA 2.Canada 3. Australia 4. Japan 5.GB 6. Sweden 7. France 8.Belgium. From a GB perspective we still have lots to do to get into that medal position and the next few weeks in camp will be very valuable. There were some good performances though from individual players with Andy Barrow fully deserving his award as the best 2.0 in the tournament and Mike Kerr unlucky not to get the best 1.5. Steve Brown, Jonny Coggan and Kylie Grimes were also all firing well but we still need to get more out of this team and that will be the focus of the coming weeks. Back now to packing…………
