We are pleased to present to you our new strategy taking us through to 2029. Created in collaboration with the wheelchair rugby community and GBWR staff and trustees; we have created a strategy that clearly outline what we will focus on over the coming years. You can download the full strategy at the top of this page or continue to read for an overview.

Wheelchair rugby began as a groundbreaking sport for people with quadriplegia. A way to compete, belong, and thrive. Today, it’s still the only team sport accessible to many with severe physical impairments, but it’s grown into so much more: a community, a support network, and a platform for life-changing experiences.

From developing independence to building friendships and offering the chance to compete on the Paralympic stage, wheelchair rugby empowers disabled people to live fuller, healthier, and more confident lives.

We are proud of how far our sport has come and are excited to continue its growth and development. We head into the next chapter of our sport with a clear purpose:

Using wheelchair rugby to enrich lives and promote positive perceptions of disability.

We would like to thank the dedication of our volunteers who continue to be the cornerstone of our sport. Without your commitment, we wouldn’t be where we are today. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all our partners whose continued support helps us grow, innovate, and reach new heights together. Thank you.
