The Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 will bring together 550 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans from 25 nations for a week of competition, recovery and inspiration through sport.
The Games will take place across the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) and Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Birmingham, showcasing the power of sport to support rehabilitation, confidence and connection.
For the first time, Wheelchair Rugby Fives (WR5s) will feature as a showcase sport, introducing new audiences to one of the fastest-growing formats of wheelchair rugby in Great Britain.
Known for its physicality, teamwork and tactical play, WR5s creates opportunities for a wider range of people with permanent physical disabilities to experience wheelchair rugby. The event represents a significant opportunity to raise awareness of the sport, inspire future participants and showcase the impact wheelchair rugby can have on people’s lives.
As Birmingham welcomes competitors, families and supporters from across the world, wheelchair rugby will play an important role in celebrating resilience, community and the power of sport to bring people together.
