Something for Everyone

This weekend sees the first ever BT National Championships and it promises to be the best domestic event ever with something for everyone. This officially kicks off our partnership with BT and we welcome them into the family of wheelchair rugby and look forward to working together. The weekend is set for families to come and watch the action on court but at the same time enjoy some of the other activities on offer including wheelchair rugby taster sessions (the kids will love these!) and a chance to meet GB players. Visitors will be able to visit the club hub to learn more about the sport and on Monday a Help For Heroes team will play a GB Community team before the start of the Nationals fin...

BT WWRC15 200 Days to Go Ticket Launch

It has been a pretty hectic but very satisfying couple of weeks. We held our second National Championships workshop at the Copper Box Arena last week and I am pretty pleased with how the plans are now coming together to deliver what should be a great event for all teams and also for families who want to drop in and experience our sport. Julie Bunnage is doing a brilliant job of pulling together the community side of this and is working with our partners at GLA and the London Legacy team to create lots of activity people can enjoy. We have also gone out with our Volunteer package and have had a huge response from individuals interested in supporting our nationals and also BT WWRC15 in October...

USA & Canada to Open BT WWRC15 Tournament

I hope by now that you will have logged on to www.wwrc15.com where the schedule for October is now available. It promises to be a stunning opening match with the USA and Canada battling it out to get an early advantage. The iconic Murderball film featured these two nations and I am sure the match in October will be as exciting and adrenaline fuelled as the one the film depicts. GB will open their account after this match by taking on France in what should be another great encounter. We are making some good progress towards the tournament with the next big announcement due in March when we will launch our ticket campaign. Ensure you are registered at www.wwrc15.com for your tickets. Based on ...

Welcome to BT & the IWRF Board

A big welcome to BT! News of the exciting new partnership has been well received and thank you for all the generous messages of support I have had since the announcement. Most of the national papers picked up on the partnership and there was some excellent media coverage. Although the formal partnership will not start until April, in reality we are already working closely with our friends in BT to shape the year ahead. This week as a senior management team we have been focused on developing an action plan for the BT National Youth Programme so we can get that under way and build on some of the pilot youth initiatives we have been running. We are also well ahead with plans for the BT Natio...
