Message from the Chief Executive
Many of you will be aware that our office at Twickenham has been unoccupied for a while following the departure of our Membership Secretary. We wish Leigh well for whatever the future holds for her and thank her for her time with us. Having reviewed the support the NGB requires we will be recruiting to a slightly different job description over the next week and I hope to have someone back in the office by mid November. I have been conscious that in recent times we have not provided the service you should expect and which we as a management team pride ourselves on and I am committed to returning a high standard of support to you as quickly as possible. In the short term your RDO will help in those areas that you normally refer to the Membership Secretary. Equally, the senior management team are also willing to assist where they can. Without that central office support it is also very challenging for us so please bear with us as we try to plug the gap as well as get on with our own day-to-day business. There is a great deal going on at the moment and it is very exciting particularly with the Sevenoaks and Lloyds fundraising events happening soon.
Of particular importance to you is the AGM that will now take place at Twickenham at 5pm on Tuesday 21 November. This is a change to the date that I originally published in one of my blogs. The formal calling notice with more details will be sent out on Wednesday 1 November. I am slightly concerned that with the difficulties at our office you may not get the papers in your email boxes as usual but I will ensure all papers are available on the website so please do look for them on 1st November. This will include the details of how to vote by Proxy for those who are unable to attend. I would encourage as many of you as possible to be present as it is your opportunity to challenge those who manage the sport on your behalf as well as to hear from us on what has been happening over the last year and what the plans are for 2018.
I apologise for any difficulties you have faced as a result of the office situation but hope that it will be business as usual very soon and I hope to see you at the AGM. I am always happy for you to contact me by email if you feel I can help david.pond@gbwr.org.uk
