Women and Girls Wheelchair Rugby

GBWR are launching the 2024 Open Programme of Activity to support the development of our female members.

We will be running four women and girls coaching sessions this year at different locations across the country in Sheffield, Worcester, Reading and Coventry.

The first session will be held in Sheffield on 22 June at the EIS Sheffield, followed by the second of the sessions taking place on 21 July at Perdiswell Leisure Centre in Worcester. The third session will be held at Arborfield Green Leisure Centre, just outside Reading, on 25 August with the final coaching session taking place on 23 November at AT7 Leisure Centre in Coventry.

All the coaching sessions will run from 11am to 4pm and will be led by GBWR’s Junior Programme Development Officer and Northampton Saints inclusion manager, Jamie Higgins.

These sessions are open to all GBWR female playing members over the age of 14 from both disciplines of wheelchair rugby. Participants need to come dressed to take part in a wheelchair rugby training session, bring your own chair, some spare inner tubes, water, and some lunch.

This is a great opportunity to come and take part in an all-female session, to meet and train with other female players and share your experiences and help you develop as a player.
