We would like to acknowledge that we have not run a Level 2 coaching course since June 2022. In the first instance this was due to technical issues with our current provider (1st4Sport) and the new platform they were using for online resources and submitting evidence of work completed. We had been working to resolve this but had not found a solution that would work in order for us to deliver the course in an effective way for the people attending it.
While we were trying to resolve these issues we were informed that changes were being made to the L2 course requirements and how this would be delivered in the future. Like many sports we run our Level 2 course which is accredited by 1st4Sport which means we deliver this based on a set curriculum that is linked to a national education framework. In March 2023 we were informed by 1st4Sport that the current structure of the L2 curriculum was having a major restructure and the framework is now being linked to the CIMPSA national professional competencies which has meant significant changes to the course content and how it will be delivered.
Due to these changes and in line with our coaching review we have placed the L2 coaching qualification on hold. This is because we are no longer able to run the current course due to these changes and as a sport must decide if we want to move to the new L2 framework.
We are reviewing the new framework to see if it suits the needs of our coaches based on the coaching review we have just undertaken. We want to make sure that any qualifications we offer are appropriate for our sport and are affordable and accessible. As part of our coaching review we are looking at all options to provide a coaching pathway from Level 1 to elite performance coaching which will be specific to our sport.
We understand peoples frustrations about the lack of a L2 course but will be shortly announcing some virtual courses to support coaches in their training and education.
We will provide further updates once we are able to tell you what will be available for the Level 2 course.
We are also excited to share more details on the coaching review in the next few weeks and how we hope this will support and develop coaches at all levels.
