| Return to Play |
| Resources and updates |
Following the government announcement of their roadmap out of lockdown we are working with Sport England and the other home nations to clarify further detail on what this means for wheelchair rugby to be able to start back. We know that the earliest adult indoor sport can resume is 17 May 2021 in England, but neither the Scottish or Welsh governments have provided further detail on when this is likely to be for them.
We are expecting further information from the DCMS on any continuing requirements that we need to meet in order to get back to playing and keep our wheelchair rugby family safe. As soon as we have this we will be in contact with all clubs.
We want everyone to be able to get back playing as soon as their club is ready, but also realise that some people will be nervous about returning. We are here to support clubs and individuals to make sure that everyone gets the best experience when going back to their club. Our regional development officers are here to support clubs and members in all areas of returning to play so if you have any queries or questions please get in touch. They will also be in touch with you shortly to check that you have everything in place and provide any support needed to get you back training.
If your club has not yet completed the return to play requirements then all of the information you need is available at gbwr.org.uk. Even with restrictions starting to be eased all clubs will be required to do this before they can start back. More workshops will be available for clubs to attend if they haven’t done so and those clubs who still need to do this will be contacted directly.
You can also email the GBWR COVID-19 officer if you have any questions, at covid-19@gbwr.org.uk.
