Just seven days to go before Australia and Denmark open the wheelchair rugby tournament at the Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo with our game against Canada following a few hours later… after what seems an eternity the Games are almost upon us. The team left Heathrow yesterday afternoon and I had confirmation of their safe arrival in the early hours of this morning. They are now settling into the Paralympic village before their first training session on Friday afternoon. We will use the website to keep you up to date with what is happening and I will do a short blog after each game and give a few more details, hopefully with a bit more insight after my daily catch up with the head coach. Our new media partners TLA are already doing a fantastic job and if you are following all the various social media feeds you will already have seen that the countdown has started with the athletes being introduced ahead of our first game. With all GB games being shown live on Channel 4 / More 4 I am sure most people will be glued to the matches. The TV times for the pool games are:
- Wednesday 25 August, 09:30: GB v Canada
- Thursday 26 August, 11:45: GB v New Zealand
- Friday 27 August, 09:30: GB v USA
Depending how the pool games go will determine the times of the other GB games which I will update on. I know you will all be joining me in wishing the team the very best of luck!
David Pond
