Super Series 2019/20: Season Overview

West Coast Crash, DMP Bulls and London Lions Super Series Winners in 2019-2020

GBWR can confirm that the Super Series 2019/20 season will finish based on current league positions. The final weekend of Super Series Division 1 was postponed due to COVID-19 while Divisions 2 and 3 were both completed. After consultation with Division 1 teams the final weekend will not be rescheduled and the season will finish on the current league standings.

In Division 1 West Coast Crash and London Storm were tied on points at the top of the table both on 18 points, 6 points clear of London Crusaders on 12 points and followed by Leicester Tigers on 10. As the two top teams were tied the winners are decided based on IWRF rules which are determined by head to head try difference (as neither team had forfeited any games). Both teams had played each other twice and when comparing the difference West Coast Crash had a superior try difference so are the winners of Division 1 – congratulations West Coast Crash! At the bottom of Division 1 Yorkshire Lions and Canterbury Hellfire were also tied on points and when comparing head to head games Canterbury had the better try difference so are placed 7th, with Lions in 8th.

Due to the suspension of competition in March the RMA Sport National Championships were also postponed and will not be held in 2020. Promotion and relegation will be based on the bottom and top team from each division being promoted or relegated as no playoffs are able to take place.
