Wheelchair rugby is about inspirational people, it’s about teamwork and trust, community, social responsibility and the extraordinary human capacity to embrace challenge and seek the positive. Our sport is the only mixed-gender Paralympic team sport and has grown five-fold since the London 2012 Paralympic Games, accelerated by GB winning Gold at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics which was watched by over one million viewers. Interest in wheelchair rugby continues to grow and is one of the most popular para-sports, at the mid-point of 2024 our social channels have already amassed over 120 million views on Instagram creating fantastic brand awareness for our partners and sport. GB are currently ranked fourth in the World Wheelchair Rugby (WWR) rankings and it is our vision to be the showcase disability sport in the UK by 2028. We want to grow the sport building a vibrant community, breaking down barriers on and off the court, delivering opportunities for all and a pipeline of world-class talent. We want to grow conversations around disability sport and inspire more people to get involved.

GBWR is currently offering a number of partnering opportunities for individuals and companies who demonstrate an empathy with our belief in the value of each individual and the power we all have to achieve the unthinkable.

In 2024, aswell as working towards Paris 2024 Paralympic Games we are looking further ahead to also build the road to the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. To aid this we have launched a groundbreaking fundraising initiative – 28 for 28 – aimed at bringing 28 partners together to support the team on their journey to the LA28 Paralympic Games.

28 for 28 represents a unique and collaborative effort to garner support for GBWR, uniting partners in a shared mission to break down barriers and build bridges to advance inclusivity. The initiative aims to pool funds from multiple sources to maximize their impact and create a lasting legacy for wheelchair rugby.
