A massive thank you to Kate Digweed and her horse Rotham who was runner up again at Fontwell Park Race Course at the weekend. Owner Kate Digweed writes:
‘I just wanted to give you the run down on our most amazing horse Rothman. I cannot tell you how much the public love this horse, he got the biggest cheer ever yesterday from the crowd.
He first of all won best turned out on the paddock – he looked stunning. The commentator did a nice 5 minute talk on GBWR and how Rothman was raising money for them which the public loved.
The ground was awful, Rothman likes the ground to be ‘good’ not heavy and wet which it was yesterday as you can imagine. The first circuit he was stone last and was hating the ground. The second last fence (and he was jumping the big fences yesterday so a real effort in that mud) he was still stone last and we thought Tom (the jockey) may pull him up as Rothman was obviously really struggling and then … he just flew!
No one could believe it … he pricked his ears and just changed gear – I have never seen a horse battle so hard – he was just beaten on the line, and if the winning post had been 20 yards further on, Rothman would have won… what a horse… just amazing. He has captured everyone’s hearts and I am sure he has tried his hardest this season as he is running for GBWR – I don’t think I have ever seen anything like it yesterday!
Anyway, that’s the story… more money raised which is fantastic and fingers crossed you can get to meet the wonder horse soon’.
