Penrith Pumas WRC have been shortlisted as one of the 95 organisations across the UK that are in with a chance of winning £60,000. The clubs hard working volunteers applied to The People’s Projects with their aim to deliver wheelchair rugby sessions for people with life changing injuries or long-term chronic health conditions. The funding will expand its support to make a positive long-lasting change to more people’s lives, demonstrating that there should be no limitations in what can be achieved post injury or diagnosis.
Based in Penrith, Cumbria, Penrith Pumas WRC are one of five groups in the region in the running for a share of almost £250,000 of funding, this would be a staggering amount of money going directly into the development of wheelchair rugby within the north-west of England.
The Puma’s campaign, ‘Promoting Unbelievable Mental Attitude’, has already begun and they want the wheelchair rugby community to get behind them to help secure this funding. The campaign will hopefully draw the attention of potential new players and volunteers across the whole of the UK. GBWR feel that by supporting this cause and voting for the Penrith Pumas project the wider wheelchair rugby community will reap the benefits.
