Paula Sage joins as our new Head of Community and Participation

We are pleased to welcome Paula Sage to GB wheelchair rugby as our new head of community and participation. Paula will be leading the recently renamed community and participation team which was formerly known as the development team.

extensive experience in education, grassroots sport, and community development

Paula brings extensive experience in education, grassroots sport, and community development. Most recently, she served as Head of Community Development for the Active Partnership for Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. Prior to joining the Active Partnership network, Paula worked as Director of Partnerships and Marketing and Director of Sport within a Birmingham-based Multi Academy Trust, and has also held roles with The Football Association and Aston Villa Football Club.

governance and mentoring experience

Paula also brings governance and mentoring experience as a Trustee at Burton Albion Community Trust and as a mentor on the Premier League’s Coach Inclusion and Diversity Scheme. Beyond work, she is hugely passionate about the positive impact of sport on people’s lives and has recently dusted off her football boots to come out of retirement and play again.

Paula will lead the role formerly held by Lauren Templeton who moved on from GB wheelchair rugby this summer. We would like to thank Lauren for her commitment to wheelchair rugby during the time she was with us. Lauren remains engaged with wheelchair rugby as part of the World Wheelchair Rugby women’s tasks force.

Please join us in welcoming Paula to the wheelchair rugby community.
