Do you want to compete in the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games?
Pathway to Podium
The Search for Future Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby Stars
Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby is recruiting the next generation of wheelchair rugby stars for the LA28 and Brisbane 32 Paralympic Games. We are looking for physically disabled males and females who are passionate and excited about sport, are motivated to be the best they can be, and want to explore their potential in wheelchair rugby.
No Wheelchair Rugby Experience Required
You don’t need to have any experience of playing wheelchair rugby, you may be playing a different sport like wheelchair basketball and feel that wheelchair rugby could be the sport that you really excel in, or maybe you’ve been inspired in the lead up to the Paralympic Games and this will be your first time trying a wheelchair sport.
“The GB Talent pathway has given me so much, both on court and off. During my time on the squad I have grown as a player, become a starter for my team, and overall gained a lot of confidence in my skill set through the expert level of coaching and management provided by the talent staff -without them I would not be the player I am today. Off court I have gained a lot of life-long friends who have helped boost my social skills like talking in front of large groups. The experience on the Talent pathway as a whole is absolutely priceless to building the foundations for anyone with the drive, ambition, and commitment to become one of the best players in the country, if not the world.”

How you will be supported on your journey into wheelchair rugby
Following your application, you will be contacted by a member of the GBWR team who will advise you on your eligibility and find out more about you and your aspirations. We will then signpost you to a club or taster session that is the most appropriate for you.
These sessions will give you the opportunity to try wheelchair rugby in a fun, supported environment. All equipment will be provided, including chairs and gloves (if needed), and our coaches will introduce you to wheelchair rugby at a pace that you are comfortable with.
During the session you will get the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of the sport and put them into action in games. The coaches will monitor your performance and give feedback to you during and after the session.
Your GBWR contact will be in touch post session to discuss the session and work with you to put together a plan to progress your wheelchair rugby journey.
“Wheelchair Rugby has changed my life. I love playing this amazing team sport and I have made so many new friends. My dream is to play for GB in the LA28 Paralympic Games.
