New Wheelchair Rugby Club Developed in Crawley

GBWR staff have supported the development of a new Wheelchair Rugby 5s club which will be part of Crawley Rugby Club and called Crawley Jets.

GBWR has been working with Crawley Rugby Club in West Sussex to look at how they could offer wheelchair rugby as part of their club and, with support from local sports centre K2, weekly wheelchair rugby sessions have now been established. GBWR staff delivered the first 6 sessions by bringing chairs and a coach and have also trained 9 of the Crawley RFU coaches to be Level 1 Activators so they can continue to deliver sessions. Over 12 players attended the first 6 sessions and the sessions are now running every Wednesday.

Crawley RFU have already begun fundraising for their own chairs as well as ordering new kit in the club’s colours for the wheelchair rugby team to play and train in.

More information on the club can be found on their website or on Facebook.
