GBWR is currently looking for low point players to represent GB at this summer’s World Games. To celebrate this recognition of the low point game, at an international tournament, GBWR is launching our own version of the low point game discipline, called three-v-three.Three-v-three is an exciting new discipline of wheelchair rugby, that incorporates all the elements of the traditional game while putting low point players firmly in the spotlight.
Our new discipline has been inspired by basketball’s three-x-three game, played on half a court. Our version is similar in that respect, played on half a court with one try line for each team to score.
The game is open to low point players classified into the Paralympic discipline of the game, this includes those players with the following classifications: 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5.
In order to pilot and develop the discipline, this season 3v3 will have three one-day tournaments across June, July, and August. Details for the 3v3 tournaments can be found below:

- 20 August 2022
All tournaments will be held at Stoke Mandeville.
As this is the first year of trialling our new format, there will be NO CHARGE for teams entering, however, places are limited so apply early.
The rules for the new 3v3 discipline:
Classification
- Maximum of 3 points on court
- Only those players classified, as low point players (0.5,1.0,1.5), under the para game classification system can take part
- Teams fielding female players receive an extra 0.5 above the 3 total points on court
Rules
- Played on a half-court 1 meter shorter than standard.
- One try line, which both teams use to score.
- 10 min total game time (clock will stop for all and any stoppages)
- 40 seconds to score (shot clock)
- Coin toss gives the choice of which team starts the game, the team that does not start the game gets to start any overtime period
- Games and restarts after a try start outside the three-point line using basketball court lines
- No inbound is necessary
- Once a try has been scored, the nominated player on the team that has conceded will start the next play by simply rolling over the 3-point line or passing to a player within the 3-point line. The player will have 10s to perform this action or will turn over the ball
- Defensive players must allow the ball carrier fully within the 3-point line
- Once the player has entered the 3-point line, all the court is then activated, and players can move or be pushed back over the 3-point line and to any part of the half-court
- Tied games go to overtime and golden point wins
- No timeouts
- One referee
