Mary has reached the end of her nine year term on the GBWR Board of Trustees. Its been a huge pleasure having Mary’s experience, drive and passion helping to guide wheelchair rugby.
A farewell Note from Mary Daunt:
“Upon becoming a trustee in 2015, I could never have imagined how much Wheelchair Rugby would influence and enhance my life.
The highs (Paralympic Gold in Tokyo 2020), the lows (losing UK Sport funding in 2016) and all that has happened over the last 9 years has ensured that it has been a proper rollercoaster ride. To watch our ‘vision’ unfold surrounded by such a dedicated and awesome bunch of people has been truly humbling. My tenure as a board member and trustee ends with the satisfaction of knowing the future success and stability of the sport is in great and more importantly, safe hands.
Thank you so much for the experience. I hope that my unflinching enthusiasm and absolute focus on the detail (whilst at times undoubtedly annoying!) has been influential and that GBWR will continue to set the highest standards in both behaviour and achievement.
It has been a genuine privilege and a pleasure meeting and working with you all and I look forward to watching the continued success of Wheelchair Rugby from afar.
P.S. Apologies for all my appalling swearing and shouting from the sidelines! It is just that watching wheelchair rugby can be just so frustrating…….”
