LimbPower: Children’s activity and sports prostheses

The Department of Health is making available a total of £750,000 to fund prostheses in England for children who have suffered limb loss or were born with a limb deficiency, to enable them to engage in physical activity and sports. This funding is available until March 2018, and it is hoped that should the scheme identify a demand, finding can be identified for future years.

NHS Limb centres in England may request funds from the Department of Health for individual prostheses they wish to prescribe to children for any activity – this is not just about sports, but can include recreation, playing with friends etc.
