GB Wheelchair Rugby is excited to launch the ‘Club Hub’, a new section of the GBWR website packed full of helpful resources for new and existing wheelchair rugby clubs, teams and participants.
In this new section you will find a Club Foundations page, where you can find a host of information to improve many aspects of clubs’ set-up and day-to-day running: from choosing a suitable organisational structure to managing your clubs’ finances and generating income.
Within the Club Hub you will also find a page dedicated to the necessary Policies & Procedures required by a wheelchair rugby club; this stress-free page explains the various documents your club will need to be sustainable, fair and professionally managed. For each policy or procedure, you will find an accompanying template which can be utilised to form your club’s own version of the respective policy or procedure.
Alongside this we have also created a section focusing on the elements that make up a great wheelchair rugby club; the aptly named What Makes a Great Club page has resources highlighting the importance of club affiliation as well as ‘how to’ guides on running a club event, taster session or participant recruitment drive.
If any participants, volunteers, or supporters are looking to improve their skillset, the Learning section highlights the various courses offered by GBWR, as well as helpful links to external course providers and learning opportunities.
Finally, if your club is interested in developing a junior section or team, then the Club Hub will also be the place to go for helpful hints and tips to get the ball (or wheelchair?) rolling. The Junior section will highlight the ins and outs of the junior programme offered by GBWR alongside some junior wheelchair rugby FAQs.
Regional Development Officer for the North, Dale Thompson, has said on the launch of the Club Hub:
“The Club Hub is a project that myself and others from GBWR’s Development Team have worked on over the last couple of months. Our hope is that this resource will be of great benefit to both new and existing wheelchair rugby clubs and will be an integral part of their ongoing development, growth and sustainability.”
We hope this resource will be well received by clubs at all levels and we hope the free resources can be utilised by the whole wheelchair rugby community.
