This is a call to all our members, we want to hear from you about your experiences within wheelchair rugby
As part of our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, GBWR have commissioned an independent organisation, Inclusive Employers, to complete a cultural review and to run a series of focus groups. The purpose of these sessions is to explore how our members feel about inclusion and the culture within wheelchair rugby, we want to know about your experiences, both what is positive in the sport and what needs to improve.
The sessions are confidential, in that Inclusive Employers will capture your thoughts in broad themes. We are interested in what was said not who said it. A report will be drafted which will be shared openly across the sport and the findings will be used to guide our ED&I journey.
The sessions are not compulsory, but we hope as many people as possible will be able to be involved. They will take a maximum of 20 people on a first-come-first-served basis. The sessions will be hosted virtually.
We also understand that not everyone will be able to make the sessions and we are open to having further 1-2-1 sessions if these are helpful or if the sessions are oversubscribed.
Please self-select the category of listening circle that best suits you by clicking on the link next to the three sessions below.
Please note, based on how you identify, you are welcome to attend more than one session.
GBWR Listening Circle – Women and Girls – Tuesday, 26 September 2023, 7-8pm
GBWR Listening Circle – Ethnically Diverse Individuals – Thursday, 28 September 2023, 7-8pm
GBWR Listening Circle – Open session – Tuesday, 3 October 2023, 7-8pm
Booking events via Zoom
1. The booking link next to each session above will take you to an automated Zoom registration page.
2. If there are places remaining on the date selected, complete your registration details and you will automatically be taken through to a ‘Meeting Registration Approved’ page. You now have the option to add the event to your calendar. We strongly recommend you do this at the time, so that all the event details are captured in your diary and do not get lost.
3. Once the event is booked, you will also receive an automated email from ‘Sport – Inclusive Employers’ including all the booking information for that event and the Zoom link. If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to add the event details to your calendar so they don’t get lost.
4. Keep the email safe as it also includes a cancellation link in case you want to cancel and rebook onto a different date and time.
If you have any questions regarding bookings, please email: sport@inclusiveemployers.co.uk
If none of the categories is relevant to you and you would also like to be part of a listening session, please do not hesitate to contact us as we will try to accommodate a few extra 1-2-1 sessions.
The sessions will be run independently by an organisation called Inclusive Employers you can find out more about them here, and the sessions will be facilitated by Michelle Daltry, Head of Sport at Inclusive Employers who knows our sport well.
If you have any questions about the sessions or the process, please do not hesitate to contact Inclusive Employers or paul.arnold@gbwr.org.uk.
