Paris 2024 Squad Announcement
It’s been a long road, and it’s unbelievable that Paris 2024 is nearly here. The big news of June was the announcement of our Paralympics GB wheelchair rugby squad. I’m excited to see what this team can achieve this August. There are some familiar faces from the Tokyo Games and some new and exciting players looking forward to their first outings as Paralympians. It has been a very challenging cycle with a lot of change. However, what has been consistent is the GB performance team’s commitment to continual improvement.
GBWR on the BBC
GB stars Stuart Robinson and Kieren Flynn were featured on BBC Breakfast. After a quick trip across Manchester to Leigh Sports Village, the team had ITV and BBC North-West waiting to film practice and speak to more of the team. Look out for the team in the coming weeks.
First Ever Medal at the Canada Cup
The team achieved their first-ever Canada Cup medal earlier this month, which was certainly a boost to their confidence in the final competition ahead of Paris. The Canada Cup is held bi-annually, hosting the top-ranked 6-8 teams from around the world, and is regarded as one of the most competitive wheelchair rugby events globally. The bronze medal for the GB squad provided a well-deserved boost in confidence ahead of the Paris Games and a glimpse into how the squad can perform when firing on all cylinders.
