We are getting very close to the Paris 2024 Paralympics and the excitement is mounting.
Our ParalympicsGB team have been training hard and aiming to fine tune the areas that will give us the best chance of success at the Games.
The wheelchair rugby schedule for the Paralympic Games was finally released with our Paralympics GB team opening the the tournament on 29th August at 1030 BST versus an Australian side who have been in fantastic form. It will certainly be a huge game to tip off our campaign and the team are excited for the challenge.
28 for 28 Event
We hosted our 2nd 28 for 28 evening at 1762 RBC Brewin in London, which was a preview to the Paralympics for our current and future potential partners. With head coach Paul Shaw, and three of our Paralympics GB athletes, the crowd was treated to some hilarious insights, as well as an understanding of the importance of wheelchair rugby to themselves and the wider community.
We are continually looking for new partners to support and would welcome any new introductions. Do get in touch with us at 28for28@gbwr.org.uk . A referral bonus will be paid should your referral lead to a new partnership deal signed. Get in touch for more details.
Wheelchair Rugby Development in Wales
The GBWR team met with DSW and WRU in Wrexham at the end of July for a strategy and planning meeting to map out what the development of wheelchair rugby in Wales we look like. This formed part of our 5 year collaborative agreement signed last summer as the three bodies commit to the development of Welsh wheelchair rugby.
Enjoy the summer and don’t forget to like and share GBWR’s social posts , especially as we edge closer to the Games.
All the best,
Jason
CEO, GB Wheelchair Rugby
