Ben Crane’s 60 Mile Warm Up on Isle of Arran Ahead of London Marathon

Our London Marathon runner Ben Crane has been pulling out all the stops in training and in fundraising these past few days as he enters his final week of preparation for the London Marathon this weekend. Always one for a challenge, he entered the Tour Arran Rat Race the weekend of 13 April which is an extreme event consisting of a run of 60 miles over two days with an ascent of 9500ft. Take a look at this clip on YouTube if you want to get a flavour of this madness. Afterwards it was back home to run his café, the Cliff Top Café, on Whitsand Bay in Cornwall which has been the centre of his fundraising campaign in support of wheelchair rugby.

To give this an additional push he organised a raffle for the bank holiday weekend which achieved a further £300 into the fund and he has now exceeded his £2300 target and is pushing towards the £3000 mark. If any of you are in London for the race on Saturday then be sure to give Ben a shout. Even more importantly, help him raise funds by getting your friends and family to donate via JustGiving. Canterbury player and former GB Captain Steve Brown will be interviewing runners as they near Canary Wharf so we hope that he will be able to catch up with Ben.

Good luck Ben and a massive thank you from all of us at GB Wheelchair Rugby!
