Ayaz Bhuta MBE to join Pathway Coaching Team

GBWR are pleased to announce that Ayaz Bhuta MBE will be joining the pathway coaching team as an assistant coach, working alongside Pathway Head Coach, Lee Parry. Ayaz has been supporting the delivery of talent camps since his retirement from the international team in December, demonstrating his coaching ability and eagerness to develop his coaching skills.

Performance Pathway Manager, Stuart McLindon, expressed his excitement:

“Ayaz brings a wealth of tactical and technical knowledge to our coaching team and has shown that he is passionate about developing up and coming athletes and supporting them to better understand the demands of being an elite athlete. He has been coaching at club level for the last year at West Coast Wheelchair Rugby Club helping them to achieve success on and off the court. We believe his addition to the coaching team will accelerate the development of the athletes, while also supporting Ayaz transition out of the elite programme “.

Commenting on his new role, Ayaz said:

“I’m honoured to join the pathway coaching team and continue my coaching development at such a high level. I have fond memories of being a pathway athlete at the beginning of my career and am very much looking forward to bringing my experiences from the elite environment into the talent environment. I’m a firm believer in being humble in both success and failure and I will be looking to instil a hard-working and winning mindset into the next GB generation.”
