GBWR are looking to identify and develop athletes who will have the potential to challenge for places in the elite squad during the Tokyo 2020 cycle and beyond.

Excitingly, during the previous investment cycle a number of athletes were identified within the Talent Development programme and have now succeeded in joining the Elite squad thus highlighting the success of the initiative.

GBWR plan to continue the forward momentum of the Talent Pathway with confirmed investment from Sport England. Knowing that there is already a vast number of developing talented athletes within our clubs, we are asking the clubs, individuals and coaches to nominate those athletes on order for us to hold a Talent Selection day.

Successful athletes will be appointed to the GBWR Talent Pathway and will be mentored and professionally supported by the GBWR Lead Talent team. Athletes will be selected for the Talent Development squad and others may initially be introduced to the pathway through the Regional Training Centres (RTCs).

Athletes within all IWRF classifications and of any age are welcome, alongside a coach’s judgement of technical capability we are also looking for the determination to succeed and progress within a learning environment. It is expected that these athletes will have the desire to improve, be challenged, have a hugely resilient attitude and absolute desire to become the world’s best.

If you know of athletes who may be interested in becoming a member of the Talent Programme please ask them to complete the form below, which also includes the coaches nomination.
