London 2012 Team Announced Tonight!

Here at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel in London, Craig Hunter of Paralympics GB has just announced the team selected to represent GB at wheelchair rugby at the 2012 Paralympics. Our friends from C4 TV accompanied the athletes on the coach from their training at Stoke Mandeville to the hotel for tonight's announcement, followed by Kylie Grimes and Steve Brown being interviewed live by John Snow on the C4 evening news slot. It's been a great evening and unsurprisingly those selected are buzzing with excitement as the media clamour for interviews. Paralympic Team Announcement

It's been a busy week for us all. Kirsty and I have been locked in the office at Twickenham writing our funding bid for Sport England. This is such important work as we try to write a persuasive case for funding for all of the programmes we hope to be able to run over the next 4 years. The plan reflects what you have told us you want to do so a big thank you to the DMG and also to all of you who took part in the telephone survey. 2012 Refresh

Enjoy our new look website which has been refreshed to reflect London 2012 and has some exciting new features.  As the clock ticks down to  the games many of us were able to get a taste of the excitement to come when we experienced the Test Event in the Paralympic Stadium last week. And what an event it turned out to be! It was a really great performance from the GB squad with tremendous wins against Sweden, Canada and Australia for GB to top the group and gain a place in the final where Australia recorded a convincing win. 20th October 2010 Applications are now open for the London 2012 Games Maker volunteer programme, which enable you to become part of the action at the Paralympics. The Wheelchair Rugby Test Event will take place on the 18th and 19th April at the Basketball Arena, Olympic Park. The event will see GB competing against Australia, Sweden and Canada.
