Just before I fly..

The end of a very long week here in Vancouver and we fly back this evening. It has been a really interesting tournament in so many ways but perhaps the most significant thing to take away from it is that pretty much any of the top 6 teams are in the reckoning for London. The USA must still be the favourites as they came here without two of their top players and after some shaky games still managed to take the Gold from Canada in the final 56-53. This was the same Canada that earlier beat Sweden in the last minutes by 1 point and yet we beat Sweden in our last match of the tournament by 63-47. Japan is also looking very capable and in the first round actually beat the USA and of course Austra...

From Vancouver..

I am not very good at adjusting my body clock after a long flight and I usually only start to feel good again when its time to catch the flight home! Anyway one very small advantage of this is that it allows me some odd time to catch up on things I want to do which is why you are getting this blog from Vancouver which I am writing at 0350 in the morning having woken up! I am here of course for two things. The first is the IWRF General Assembly which starts 0900 in the morning and which lasts for two days. I did alert you to the resolutions being discussed and I have had one response on the Stickum proposal from Pirates so thank you to them. After the Assembly the Canada Cup starts and this w...

Well Done Dave and Good Luck Richard!

There is lots going on at the moment with the third of the Super Series events on Saturday in Sheffield followed by the Nationals and the AGM in a few weeks time and of course the all important preparations for London 2012. On top of that many of you have been helping us with putting together our funding submissions to Sport England by giving us your views in our telephone canvassing initiative. This has provided us with really valuable ideas of where you want to see the sport go. We have used this information and have now presented our initial plans for the next 4 years to both Sport England and UK Sport and we wait for the next stage of a process which will end with us presenting in ‘...

Paralympic Team Announcement

It's been a busy week for us all. Kirsty and I have been locked in the office at Twickenham writing our funding bid for Sport England. This is such important work as we try to write a persuasive case for funding for all of the programmes we hope to be able to run over the next 4 years. The plan reflects what you have told us you want to do so a big thank you to the DMG and also to all of you who took part in the telephone survey. We have also just had our first feedback on the UK Sport Rio submission. This is the funding bid we worked on at the start of the year to achieve funding for the squ...
