GBWR is wholly committed to creating a safe and positive environment for participants of all ages within our sport. We have robust and established safeguarding procedures in place and will continue to respond positively to anyone raising concerns. We have worked closely with the Child Protection in Sport Unit and are currently working to achieve the NSPCC’s National Advanced Standards for Safeguarding and Protecting Children in sport. We recognise the additional vulnerability of disabled children and adults and are committed to working in partnership with the statutory agencies to ensure that the safeguarding of children and adults at risk is prioritised at all times. We also recognise the power of wheelchair rugby to promote achievement, self-esteem, independence and improvements in physical and mental health. Our network of Club Welfare Officers are key to ensuring that best practice is promoted, and the voices of disabled participants are heard, to support continuous improvement and appropriate responses at all levels of our sport.
